ALEX KINDER

Brass Caption Head

Alex Kinder is a Trombonist currently working towards his Masters Degree in Trombone Performance under Dr. Lauren Rudzinskas at the University of Akron. At the University of Akron, he serves as a teaching assistant in the trombone studio. Alex coaches trombone chamber music and also serves as principal of the University of Akron Symphony Band.

Before attending the University of Akron, Alex earned his Bachelor of Music in Music Education from The College of New Jersey. During his time there, Alex organized, facilitated, and performed with the TCNJ Brass Quartet, TNCJ Brass Quintet, and TCNJ Trombone Quartet. He also taught lessons to many brass undergrad students and performed during the premieres of both “Weather” by Rollo Dilworth and “Felo de Se” by Ryan Galik. Over the course of his time at The College of New Jersey, Alex spent a great deal of time archiving manuscripts and multiple unpublished works by Dr. David Uber and earned the Dr. David Uber Memorial Endowed Scholarship for his work.

In addition to the various scholastic ensembles Alex is a part of, he also earned spots in the CBDNA Intercollegiate Small Ensemble as Principal Trombone, the Ohio Intercollegiate Jazz Band as the 1st Trombone, and the New Jersey Intercollegiate Jazz Band as 2nd Trombone.
