
ALEX KINDER
Brass Caption Head
Alex Kinder is an educator and trombonist currently residing in Lima, Ohio. Originally from New Jersey, this is his third year on staff with the Rogues Hollow Regiment and his second year as Brass Caption Head. Currently the Assistant Band Director of Bath Local Schools, Mr. Kinder teaches 5th grade through 12th grade band. He also is the assistant marching band director, directs the Bath High School Jazz Band, Bath Middle School Jazz Club, and teaches a music appreciation class.
Alex holds degrees from The College of New Jersey (B.M. in Music Education) and The University of Akron (M.M. in Trombone Performance). During his time at The College of New Jersey, Alex organized, facilitated, and performed with the TCNJ Brass Quartet, TNCJ Brass Quintet, and TCNJ Trombone Quartet. He also spent a great deal of time archiving manuscripts and multiple unpublished works by Dr. David Uber and earned the Dr. David Uber Memorial Endowed Scholarship for his work.
At the University of Akron, he served as a teaching assistant in the trombone studio. Alex coached trombone chamber music and also served as principal of the University of Akron Symphony Band.
Alex has a history of performing in prestigious ensembles as he has earned spots in the CBDNA Intercollegiate Small Ensemble as Principal Trombone, the Ohio Intercollegiate Jazz Band as the 1st Trombone, and the New Jersey Intercollegiate Jazz Band as 2nd Trombone.
