MATTIE COTTER
Brass Technician - Trumpet
Mattie Cotter is a Trumpet player currently majoring in Mathematics and Jazz at Kent State University. He currently studies Trumpet under Dr. Amanda Bekeny and Jazz under Bobby Selvaggio. Mattie served as a section leader for the Kent State Marching Golden Flashes, and has performed in the Kent State Brass Quintet, Symphony and Wind Ensembles, Jazz Orchestra, and various small group Jazz Combos. During his time in Kent, he has been selected to play Lead Trumpet in the Ohio Intercollegiate Jazz Band.
Mattie marched with the Bluecoats Drum and Bugle Corps for the 2022 and 2024 seasons. From the 2024 season, he was the recipient of the Performer of the Year Award for Movement within the Visual Caption. Since then Mattie has worked with his home marching band at Westerville South High School as a trumpet and visual instructor. He has also taugh private trumpet lessons and has worked with students on World Class Drum Corps individual audition preparation. Mattie is super stoked to have the opportunity to teach at Rogues Hollow Regiment for the season!
