JAKE DAVIS

Front Ensemble Caption Head

Jake Davis is a West Virginia native who has been involved in the marching arts for over fifteen years. Being fascinated with various percussion instruments at a young age, he became obsessed with a single instrument, the marimba. Through deliberate practice and rehearsal with his bands, he eventually ventured out to audition for world-class drumlines and eventually participated with groups across the East and Midwest, including Cap City Percussion based in Columbus, Ohio, and the Colts Drum and Bugle Corps based in Dubuque, Iowa. After aging receiving a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, he eventually began working as an engineer in Charleston, West Virginia, where he learned the basics behind hydraulic, construction, and geotechnical engineering.

After the Global Pandemic in 2020, he saved up and built a small music workstation. Since musical and visual design fascinated Jake to no end, he would often spend time composing music for his ensembles, while at the same time, experimenting with his own sounds in his small studio. He then went on to obtain a Master’s in Civil and Environmental Engineering while working in construction in his hometown to pay tuition.

Since then, Jake has been instructing a local high school band in West Virginia (going on ten years with the same group), and he has found a new meaning and joy working as a Water Resources Engineer to provide clean water for local Appalachian communities.
