JAKE DAVIS

Front Ensemble Caption Head

Jake Davis is a West Virginia native who has been involved in the marching arts for over fifteen years. Being fascinated with various percussion instruments at a young age, he became obsessed with a single instrument, the marimba. Through deliberate practice and rehearsal with his bands, he eventually ventured out to audition for world-class drumlines and eventually participated with groups across the East and Midwest, including Cap City Percussion based in Columbus, Ohio, and the Colts Drum and Bugle Corps based in Dubuque, Iowa. After receiving a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, he eventually began working as an engineer in Charleston, West Virginia, where he learned the basics behind hydraulic, construction, and geotechnical engineering.

Jake built his own music studio in 2020, where he would often spend time composing music for his ensembles, while at the same time, experimenting with his own sounds. Jake continued his education by obtaining a Master’s in Civil and Environmental Engineering while working in construction in his hometown to pay tuition.

Jake has been instructing a local high school band in West Virginia for over 10 years. Jake is currently employed as a Water Resources Engineer to provide clean water for local Appalachian communities.
